Vassilios C. Loukopoulos - President & CEO

Vassilios C. Loukopoulos is a Full Professor in the Department of Physics of the University of Patras. He holds a BSc. in Physics and a PhD in Computational Fluid Dynamics from Department of Physics of the University of Patras in Greece. He also holds two M.Sc. in “Theoretical, Computational Physics and Astrophysics” and “Quality Assurance”. He is Director of the Postgraduate Program in Advanced Studies in Physics. His Academic experience is long lasting in Higher Education at Undergraduate and Postgraduate Level.

His research interests are concerned with: Fluid Mechanics, Computational Fluid Mechanics, Programming, Numerical Methods, Nanofluids, Electric/Magnetic Fluids and Biomechanics. Additionally, he has published over 90 original publications in international journals and conferences and has authored 4 books.

He is responsible for research programs and member of national and international scientific associations. He has cooperated with institutions abroad, such as “The University of Western Australia” and the “University of Luxembourg”. He is a member of Editorial Board of International Scientific Journals and Conferences. He is a reviewer of scientific articles in international scientific journals and conferences.

He has worked as Consultant of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Technological Development of Western Greece, which was a structure of the Ministry of Development. He also has occupied at the Development Company of Etoloakarnania (AN.AIT. SA) as a Scientific & Technical Consultant, responsible for European Projects.

Vasileios Papasotiropoulos - Vice President

Vasileios Papasotiropoulos is Professor of Genetics – Plant Breeding in the Department of Agriculture at University of Patras, Greece. A graduate of the Agricultural University of Athens holds a PhD in Genetics from the Department of Biology at the University of Patras. Following his PhD, he joined the Center for Applied Genomics at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, USA as a postdoctoral fellow from 2001 to 2005.

His research interests focus on the genetic analysis of horticultural crops and aromatic and medicinal plants to identify genotypes with superior traits for breeding. Using state of the art methodologies, he explores the genetic background of important traits such as the fruits’ aroma and flavor, as well as the relationship between the genotype and the chemical composition of plants’ derivatives. As a member of PlantUP, a national research infrastructure of excellence, he is involved in the conservation genetics of wild endemic plants and plant genetic resources.

He has participated in several national and international research projects and has published several research publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Apart from his other activities, he is a board member of Aroma Innovation Hub at Patras Science Park, aiming to promote research, technological development, innovation and cooperation between academia and the production sector in the field of aromatic and medicinal plants.

He has been awarded a Marie Curie individual fellowship for post-doctoral studies and is a member of the European Association for Research on Plant Breeding (EUCARPIA).

Hera Antonopoulou - Board Member

Hera Antonopoulou holds a BSc. in Mathematics from Department of Mathematics and PhD. from Department of Computer Engineering & Informatics of the University of Patras in Greece.

She is a Full Professor in the Department of Management Science and Technology of the University of Patras. Also, is Director of the Laboratory of Entrepreneurship and Digital Innovation with the acronym E.D.I. Lab (International title: Entrepreneurship & Digital Innovation Lab) and researcher and  founder member of the Institute of Circular Economy and Environment (ICEE).

Regarding administrative positions, she was Vice-President of the Technological Educational Institute  of Patras, Chairman of the Research Committee of the same institution and also Deputy Rector of Academic Affairs of Technological Educational Institute of Western Greece. Her Academic experience is long lasting in Higher Education at Undergraduate and Postgraduate Level.

As far as her research interests are concerned, these are: Mathematical Logic, Algorithm Theory, Cryptography and Information Systems Security, Protection of Individual Privacy in the Information Society, Data mining & Applications in various fields of knowledge as well as in business and education, issues of Organizational Behavior Management and Leadership in Business Administration. Additionally, she has published over 100 original publications in international journals and conferences and has authored 5 book

Stelios Koutroubinas - Board Member

Dr. Stelios Koutroubinas has 25 years of experience in Telecommunications and in embedded electronics systems design. An electrical engineer by training, he has accumulated vast experience in designing market competitive microelectronic products and developing high caliber engineering teams.

Fresh from a PhD in electronics, Stelios spent 9 years at ATMEL, ending up as GM for their 140 person R&D division in Greece. He went on, to senior leadership roles at Bytemobile working on restructuring the group in Greece to an independent R&D center. Since 2014, Stelios is managing MEAZON SA that designs and produces innovative products for the Energy sector with customers worldwide. 

The contribution of these products in the energy digitization is disruptive. A Cyber Physical System based on Meazon’s products is the key to solve some of the most challenging product that Utilities phase such as Energy Disagreegation and Predictive Maintenance. Stelios is the author of 15 peer-reviewed papers and three patents.

Intrapreneurship Consultant with 10+ years’ experience working in industries ranging from Tech and Maritime startups to Corporate Env. I desire to utilize my innate skills as a Design Thinker to assist organizations in achieving higher levels of success through collaboration and innovation.

Lykourgos Stavroulopoulos - Board Member

Lykourgos Stavroulopoulos holds a Degree (BA Honors) in Accounting and Finance and a Master’s Degree (MSc) in Logistics from the Department of Technology and Research at the Birmingham City University, specializing in Industrial Management and Customer Focused Logistics.

He has vast experience in the management of European projects as well as national and EU research, including co-operation with the Hellenic Parliament, the Greek Ministry of Defence, Rover Group plc, and Tricon Corp.

Since 2007, he is occupied as Project Manager & Auditor of co-funded E.U. projects in the Managing Authority of the Region of Western Greece (RWG). During the last three Regional Operational Programmes (CSF III, NSRF, NSRF II) his duties involved monitoring & managing projects in the following thematic units: (a) Innovative Entrepreneurship & Support for Small and Medium Enterprises, (b) Development Law, (c) Interconnection of Research and Production, (d) Promotion of Innovation, (e) Technical Assistance.

During the current Programmatic Period (2014-2020) he is responsible for the Western Greece Regional Innovation Strategy (RIS3), which involves management and auditing of 66 Smart Specialization projects in 5 thematic areas (Transnational Research Collaborations, Microelectronics, Information and Communication Technologies, Energy Applications, Agro-nutrition), and a budget of 18 million €.

Since 2017, he also holds the position of Head of the Quality Control Department of the Managing Authority of the Western Greece Regional Operational Programme. During his term of office, the M.A. has excelled in the annual external audit by an Independent Authority for three consecutive years (2018, 2019, and 2020).

He is also an Elected Member of the Panhellenic Assembly of Representatives of the Economic Chamber of Greece (2019).

Evangelia Gralista from Trikala,Greece is in her senior year at University of Patras in the department of mathematics. She is currently working as a web design intern at Patras Science Park (PSP).

Vicky Tomara

Development Director

Vicky studied Business Administration at Athens University of Economics and Business and she got a M.B.A. from University of Patras. Her experience and background focus on supporting businesses-academia partnerships. Especially, she has been primarily activated in innovation supporting tools, while she worked in the past as an economist and research project manager in the industry. She has a good knowledge of the Greek innovation ecosystem actors, including academia, research institutes, regional and central governmental organizations, entrepreneurs and industry. She contributed to the launch and development of the Innovation and Technology Transfer Office of the University of Patras where she served as a Technology Transfer Consultant for 4 years. She acted as the principal organizational officer on behalf of the University of Patras for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Patras IQ Innovation Exhibition. Also, she contributed to the launch and development of the Technology Transfer Office of Patras Science Park and she involved in the building of the collaborative network between both CERN procurement and CERN Technology Transfer Group with the Greek start up community & enterprises. She is currently the Development Director in Patras Science Park, she is member of the Advisory Board of the Proof of Concept and she participates in the selection committee in various regional innovation competitions.
