The ERNEST “European Research Network on Sustainable Tourism” project will address the issue of sustainable development in tourism through coordination and collaboration among regional research programmes, implemented in the cooperating regions of EU. ERNEST will be a horizontal ERA NET action (European Research Area – Network) and is financed by 7th Framework Programme (FP7).

 Through the project, the cooperating regions will share and build on research work already underway at regional level, making it more productive and efficient through the exchange of information and knowledge, planning and implementation of joint activities. The ultimate objective is the creation of a network of cooperating regions, which will be continuously developed, and its activity will be gradually embodied in EU policy on Tourism. Furthermore, in the framework of the programme one or more research projects will be implemented in one of the areas of interest related to Tourism.
